5G upgrades will contribute more than $600 billion a year to the global economy, GSMA thinktank says

SSE China Securities Network (reporter Wen Ting Song Weiping) on February 23, the World Mobile Communications Congress (MWC) opened in Shanghai. The GSMA think tank released the China Mobile Economic Development Report 2021 at the meeting, saying that 5G-related investments will help the global economy overcome the impact of the epidemic. By 2030, 5G upgrades will contribute more than $600 billion a year to the global economy, representing about 2.1 percent of the projected revenue growth for all industries and sectors over the next decade.

According to the report, China continues to maintain its position as one of the world’s leading markets for 5G technology. China will add more than 200 million new 5G connections in 2020. China is expected to have more than 800 million 5G connections by 2025, offering a range of products and services to individual consumers and the wider economy.
