Malaysia is in a position to ease restrictions on interstate travel

Senior Minister of Defence Ismail Sabri announced Wednesday evening that from tomorrow, cross-state travel will be allowed between states under the “Recovery Movement Control Order”, provided that travel agencies can only take part in group Tours and people cannot travel by car.

“After taking advice from the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism on a ‘tourism bubble’, the government has decided to allow inter-state travel between COVID-eligible states,” he said.

However, Ismail told a news conference that the interstate travel was subject to conditions, including only participating in tour groups registered with Malaysia’s Ministry of Tourism, banning private travel, requiring police approval and limiting travel to tourist sites in areas undergoing recovery.
