Ministry of Industry and Information Technology: grant barrier-free marks to the first batch of barrier-free websites and mobile APP before the end of the year

According to Yang Yuyan, head of the information technology development department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the first batch of websites and mobile apps that meet the requirements will be given barrier-free marks and will be publicized before the end of this year.

At the press conference, a reporter asked whether the digital divide is becoming more and more serious for the elderly as the pace of digital society construction accelerates. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has introduced the special action to carry out the transformation of Internet application for aging. How is the progress now?

Yang Yuyan pointed out that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in January this year officially launched the “Internet application suitable for aging and barrier-free transformation of the special action”, and recently completed the mobilization deployment, has entered the stage of organization and implementation.

Yang emphasized that in the next step, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will organize relevant units to accelerate the transformation of the website and APP in accordance with the schedule and based on the actual needs of the elderly group, and establish an evaluation system for the aging and accessibility level of Internet applications, and organize the implementation of evaluation. By the end of this year, we expect that the first batch of information accessibility websites and mobile apps that meet the requirements will be granted an accessibility mark and will be publicly available.
