Urumqi, March 20 (Xinhua/Gu Yu and Du Gang) As spring returns to the earth and another heating season comes to an end, PetroChina’s Tarim oilfield, the main source of west-east natural gas transmission, successfully completed the task of ensuring natural gas supply in winter from November last year to March this year, with a total supply of 12.076 billion cubic meters of natural gas during the winter supply period, hitting a new record high.
According to the latest statistics of Tarim Oilfield of CNPC, compared with the same period in the previous winter, the gas supply in the heating season just ended increased by 1.236 billion cubic meters, which effectively ensured the warm winter for people of all ethnic groups in the lower reaches of the West-to-East Natural Gas Pipeline and southern Xinjiang. Since the winter supply began in November last year, the Tarim oilfield has supplied more than 90 million cubic meters of gas per day on average, hitting a record high.
As the main gas source of the West-to-East Natural Gas Pipeline, Tarim Oilfield has supplied over 270 billion cubic meters of natural gas to the West-to-East Natural Gas Pipeline Network, providing gas guarantee for about 400 million residents in 15 downstream provinces, more than 120 large and medium-sized cities and more than 3,000 enterprises. In addition, the Tarim oilfield has delivered over 40 billion cubic meters of natural gas to all prefectures in southern Xinjiang, ushering the people and enterprises of all ethnic groups in the Tarim Basin into the “natural gas era”.
Tarim oil field is the third largest onshore oil and gas field in China. At present, several large gas fields such as Kela 2, Dina 2 and Keshen have been built, and the natural gas output accounts for 1/6 of the total natural gas output in China. In recent years, in the face of the continuously rising demand for natural gas, the Tarim Oilfield has accelerated the pace of exploration and development. Last year, it produced 31.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas and 30.8 million tons of oil and gas equivalent. The 30 million ton oil and gas field and 30 billion cubic meter atmosphere area have been completed in an all-round way, becoming an important strategic replacement area for increasing oil and gas storage and production in China.
