Agricultural Bank of China signs UN Responsible Banking Principles

On October 13, the Agricultural Bank of China (ABC) formally signed the UN Principles for Responsible Banking and became a member of unep’s Finance Initiative. The signing of this principle is a solemn commitment of AGBANK to vigorously develop green finance and firmly support sustainable development, and also an important measure of AGBank to build the modernization of harmonious coexistence between man and nature with financial strength.

The Principles for Responsible Banking were developed by UNEP Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) and officially released at the UN General Assembly in 2019. The bank will sign the responsible bank principles consistency, influence, customers, stakeholders, corporate governance, transparency and accountability and so on six basic principles embedded in all business areas, and by performing a guide and a series of documents, the development strategy and business operation of banking should be with the United Nations sustainable development agenda in 2030 and adapted to the climate of Paris agreement, It is an important international standard for commercial banks to promote sustainable development. So far, more than 250 banks around the world have signed up to the Responsible Banking Principles, with their combined assets accounting for more than 40% of the global banking industry’s total assets.

In the future, AGBANK will continue to strongly support the high-quality development of green finance, promote the realization of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and contribute to the building of a community of human and natural life.
