Ali Yun and Zheng Guosuo participated in the “Butter Pear Planting Challenge” on Mount Dangshan, Anhui

On Nov 25, the No.1 Pear Garden in Dangshan County, Anhui Province, kicked off a special “competition” — the Yak Pear Planting Challenge. On the one hand, dangshansu pear traditional cultivation experience; On the other side is the “digital planting model” jointly developed by Aliyun and Zheng Guo.

During the competition, 100 pear trees in No.1 Pear Garden will be watered and fertilized entirely under the guidance of planting models. After a year, experts will evaluate the effects of different planting methods on the trees.

The Digital Planting Model is based on big data and artificial intelligence technology and was developed by the Zhengzhou Fruit Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences in collaboration with Aliyun. During the research and development, the two parties digitized the most suitable soil, temperature, insect condition and other conditions to form the “agricultural knowledge map” of Dangshansu pear. This is the core of the digital planting model.

In June, Alibaba Cloud completed the digital transformation of Dangshan Pear Garden. Iot devices can realize dynamic monitoring of fruit tree growth environment, forming real-time data of soil temperature, humidity, PH value, salinity and so on.

The Digital planting Model combines knowledge maps with real-time data collected by the Internet of Things to make precise farming recommendations. For example, one week before germination, when the soil pH value is 5-8.5 and the soil salt content is below 0.2%, the system will automatically send information to the orchard manager: high nitrogen water-soluble fertilizer can be applied according to 4-8 kg/mu, humic acid or alginate water-soluble fertilizer 0.5-1 kg/mu.

Master Zhu, a pear orchard administrator who has been planting pear trees for decades, says digital planting is different from traditional methods. “In the past, pears were planted in ditches, fertilized and watered through pipes. The amount of fertilizer and water applied is a matter of experience.”

Si Peng, deputy director of the Fruit and melon Cultivation Research Center of Zheng Guosuo, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, said China’s fruit industry is worth 2.5-3 trillion yuan. At present, the per capita occupancy of fruit is 195 kg. With the improvement of people’s living standards, fruit consumption is increasing year by year.

Under the background of the comprehensive implementation of the rural revitalization strategy, fruit trees have become the leading industry for farmers to increase their income and get rich due to their high economic value. However, the fruit industry is also facing many problems, such as insufficient supply of high-quality fruit; Orchard production environment is diverse, mechanization degree is low, production technology standard is difficult to be unified; An aging working population, a younger generation unwilling to work in agriculture, and so on.

In October this year, Zhengzhou Fruit Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences participated in the 2021 Cloud Conference and jointly released the “Future Orchard Joint solution” with Ali Cloud. The two sides will focus on industrial problems such as land shortage, labor shortage and low unit capacity, build industrial digital solutions integrating finance, agricultural machinery, agricultural technology, agricultural materials, industrial supply chain and digital planting infrastructure, and provide scientific and technological services for rural revitalization.

“The introduction of dangshan Pear digital planting model is of great help to the fruit yield of the base. The original fruit farmers are transformed into new farmers under the orchard in the future to realize the standardized production mode of fruit factories; Reduce the use of fertilizer, improve the quality and safety of fruits and vegetables, so that people can enjoy more high-quality agricultural products.” Si Peng said.

As of November this year, Ali Cloud has built digital orchards in 12 provinces of Zhejiang, Hubei, Hunan, Anhui, Jiangsu, Shandong, Shaanxi, Hainan, Shanxi, Sichuan, Shanghai and Yunnan. Tang Rixin, general manager of Aliyun intelligent natural resources industry, introduced that AIoT, blockchain, remote sensing AI and other technologies can fully digitize farmland, crops, environment, planting, sales and other information, so as to help agricultural enterprises achieve standardized production management.
