Focusing on “double carbon” economy, Zhejiang and RCEP region seek new opportunities for technical cooperation

Hangzhou, November 26 (Reporter Huang Hui) Carbon peak, carbon neutrality is one of the most concerned hot spots in the world. As a broad and profound systemic economic and social transformation, carbon peak and carbon neutral also imply infinite opportunities.

On November 26, the Zhejiang-RCEP Regional Dual carbon Economic and technological Matchmaking meeting was held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province. The activity aims to tap the potential of technical cooperation in green and low-carbon industries between Zhejiang and RCEP member countries, and promote the high-quality development of green manufacturing industries such as new energy, new materials, high-end equipment and clean technology.

Zhu Jun, a member of the Party group and chief economist of Zhejiang Provincial Department of Commerce, introduced that in recent years, The economic and trade relations between Zhejiang and RCEP member countries have become increasingly close, and the scale of investment in the manufacturing industry has continued to improve. By the end of October this year, Zhejiang enterprises have invested 2,265 projects in RCEP member countries, and the record amount of FOREIGN direct investment has reached us $35 billion.

Japan, South Korea, Singapore and other countries have relatively advanced green and low-carbon technologies, and zhejiang can form complementary advantages by carrying out relevant cooperation with Zhejiang in projects, capital and technology.

“Environmental measures are key to social and economic transformation, promoting investment in productivity, industrial restructuring and strong economic growth.” In a video link, Daisuke Takahashi, Minister of Economic Information and Mechanical Environment industry, Shanghai Representative Office of Japan International Trade Organization, introduced the development opportunities of Green and low-carbon industries in Japan from the aspects of energy, industry and transportation. “We hope to see more international cooperation so that every country and region can make full use of its advantages to build a carbon-neutral society.”

Kim Blue Sky, manager of the Korea Trade Center in Hangzhou of KOTRA, said, “We hope that through this matchmaking event, organizations of different countries can share more carbon-neutral plans and explore ways to cooperate.”

Seven companies from Japan, South Korea and Singapore also introduced their projects through video link, covering seven sub-sectors such as water treatment and fuel cells. Many participating companies expressed their willingness to further cooperate.
